US Press Release Service

UK Trade & Investment is offering assistance to companies wishing to raise their profile in the United States.

The US Press Release Service (PRS) obtains editorial coverage for new and innovative British products, processes and services in the US media. The PRS can help UK companies to raise awareness of their products, generate business or assess whether a market is worth further investment or investigation.

The US Press Release Team uses information provided by the company to write a press release in a style appropriate for the US media. The team also compiles a tailored distribution list to print and internet trade publications – and where appropriate, consumer publications – across the whole of the country. After the press release is issued it is also hosted on the UKTI portal website for two years and the client is provided with tracking reports at three and six months showing the number of hits/ downloads.

There is also a Gold Service which involves the team targeting an agreed ‘hit list’ of publications to attempt to get feedback on the press release and the product/ service.

Companies should be aware that in order for a press release to be successful with the US media, it must have a strong news hook – something that is new or different and which will attract the readers’ attention.

The US Press Release Service was launched following the closure of the ‘New Products from Britain’ service. It is a trade service and is commissioned through the Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS).

The PRS team is always happy to talk directly to a company or to the company’s international trade adviser with regards to the service.

For more information about the service please contact Kimberly Goldstein or Susan Marsden at researchusa@fco.gov.uk.
