Green Export: opportunities and pitfalls

Yorkshire & Humber companies are invited to an event in the region focusing on ‘green exporting’.

At least a tenth of the UK environmental industry’s £25bn annual turnover is through exports, representing a significant share of the world market in environmental goods and services.

Post-Copenhagen as the world starts to explore new strategies, more and more opportunities are opening up in markets such as China and India. Indeed the global market for low-carbon technologies could be worth $700bn by the end of the year.

Whether you are already an exporter of environment products or services, or you are interested in breaking into this market, you are encouraged to attend this event, which will take place at DLA Piper in Sheffield on 23 March 2010

Note: This event is cancelled.

Speakers will include:

  • Alastair Gardner, UK Trade & Investment – Alastair will set the scene for the afternoon, describing for us the size of the market and the nature of the opportunities. He will also discuss the best ways to access those opportunities.
  • Teresa Hitchcock, head of safety, health and environment, DLA Piper – An active figure both in the local and global environmental scene, Teresa will share with us her understanding of the green supply chain management issues to be aware of and introduce you to the concept of ‘Greenwashing’.
  • Andy Cantrill, senior manager, Trade & Supply, HSBC Bank – Andy will cover the use of Trade finance to generate cash flow and reduce risks to export sales. Also the environmental sustainability considerations which HSBC take into account when reviewing requests for finance.

For further information or to book your place please contact Sally Johnson at DLA Piper on 0114 2833343 or email events.sheffield@dlapiper.com.
