Visiting the Market

You will need to travel regularly to your chosen overseas market to develop your business partnerships. Your visit may be to research the market, see your customers or agents, or attend or exhibit at a trade fair. Support to help you with your market visit is available whether you wish to travel alone or as part of a group and to ensure your overseas trip is a success. Travelling to the market in groups

  • Trade Missions
    Trade missions to specific markets take place on a regular basis, led by a number of organisations, usually Chambers of Commerce and Trade Associations. Take a look at our events section to find out about upcoming overseas missions, or contact one of the trade mission organisers in Yorkshire and Humber.
  • Market Visit Support Programme
    UK Trade & Investment’s Market Visit Support Programme is specifically tailored to support sme’s who are new to exporting, or new to the markets India, China, Hong Kong or Taiwan. This programme helps businesses visit the market, establish sales leads and find out how business is done overseas.

Overseas Tradeshows

  • Tradeshow Access Programme External weblink icon
    UK Trade & Investment can help eligible UK companies take part in overseas exhibitions through its Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP). The aim of the programme is to help new exporters to learn how to use exhibitions as a key tool in their overseas trade plans by providing them with grant support.

  • Passport to Export
    The Passport to Export programme helps inexperienced exporters to develop an international trade strategy and includes support for a tailored market visit.
  • Targeted Export Support Scheme (TESS)
    Targeted Export Support helps experienced exporters to develop more difficult markets. Support includes accessing funding to visit overseas markets.
