Once delegates have completed the online registration form the information will be sent to BtoB International, who will be matchmaking companies with overseas buyers on behalf of Yorkshire Forward and UK Trade & Investment. If the profile is approved and the company is eligible to participate, BtoB International will invoice a nominal fee of £50+vat (allowing up to two delegates per company). Once the payment has been made, meetings will be set up with the overseas buyers as appropriate.
An up to date list of buyers will be available to download from this section in the run up to the event. Regional companies and buyers will be able to send any requests of meetings to BtoB International up to the 3rd March 2010. A personalised meeting agenda will be sent out a week before the event but there may be opportunity to arrange further meetings during the day of the event - subject to availability.
The Going Global 2010 - Meet the Buyer Event does not guarantee contracts because of the nature of the formal bidding process between buyers and suppliers. The event, nonetheless, does aim to create tangible opportunities for regional businesses by holding personal, one-to-one meetings with potential clients that would have taken weeks or months to schedule on their own. We are working to make sure we bring world class buyers which are genuinely interested in our region’s products and services.
On average, each business can expect to have between 3-5 pre-booked appointments. There may be an opportunity to extend this on the day of the event depending on last minute availability.
Each meeting will last for a maximum of fifteen minutes with a five minute break in between to allow buyers and sellers to move to their next appointment. A suggested format to the meeting could include:
2 minutes - introduce your company and provide an overview
2 minutes - allow the buyer to introduce themselves and their company
3 minutes - describe your products and services
3 minutes - describe your past performance and successes achieved
5 minutes - learn more about opportunities and next steps
In order for us to monitor any potential business deals and outputs from the event, delegates will be required to provide information resulting from their meetings on the day of the event and then, six and twelve months afterwards. This is very important as it will help us to track whether the event was successful and helped secure business for our region.
